The New King of EDC: The Canik METE MC9 Prime Radian
CESAR CRUZ Feb 03, 2026
If you’ve been following the evolution of the micro-compact market, you know that the struggle has always been balancing concealability with control. Small guns are easy to hide, but they are notoriously "snappy" to shoot.
That just changed.
At SHOT Show 2026, Canik officially unveiled the METE MC9 Prime Radian. By partnering with the recoil-mitigation experts at Radian Weapons, Canik has produced a factory-compensated 9mm that shoots flatter than most full-sized duty pistols.
Why the "Ramjet" Matters
The heart of this new platform is the Radian Ramjet™ barrel and Afterburner™ compensator. Unlike traditional comps that require a threaded barrel (which can be a legal headache in some states), the Ramjet uses a proprietary tapered screw and wedge system.
-
44% Recoil Reduction: Radian’s tech is famous for a reason. This system redirects gasses upward to keep your muzzle down, allowing for insanely fast follow-up shots.
-
The "Legal" Comp: Because it’s a non-threaded design, it remains compliant in jurisdictions where threaded barrels are restricted.
-
Optic Tracking: Because the gun stays so flat, your red dot never leaves the window during the firing cycle.
More Than Just a Barrel Swap
Canik didn't just slap a compensator on the old MC9 and call it a day. The Prime Radian is a ground-up refinement of the METE series:
-
Enhanced Ergonomics: It features a new full-wrap grip stippling that is aggressive enough for sweaty hands but comfortable enough for all-day AIWB carry.
-
The Radian Backstrap & Magwell: This collaboration includes Radian’s oversized backstrap and flared magwell, which deepens your grip and makes reloads effortless—even under stress.
-
World-Class Trigger: It retains the legendary Canik 90-degree flat-face trigger. If you know, you know—it’s widely considered the best striker-fired trigger on the market.
-
Sights & Optics: It comes factory-equipped with Night Fision Tritium sights and is optics-ready for the Shield RMSc footprint (like the Holosun 407k/507k).

The AGC Guns Verdict
Usually, to get a setup like this, you’d have to buy a standard MC9 ($450), a Radian Ramjet/Afterburner ($390), a magwell ($80), and night sights ($100). You'd be well over $1,000 before you even hit the range.
The Canik Prime Radian gives you the full "Gucci" build straight from the factory for under $900. It’s reliable, it’s legal, and it’s arguably the softest-shooting micro-compact ever made.
Coming Soon to AGC Guns
We are expecting our first shipment of the Prime Radian to hit the shelves in late March/early April.
